I was hurtling along Saxon Drive thinking that I'd never seen a mattress there, when I suddenly did see one. I crouched behind a car to get this shot because the matt's owner was just returning home with her nipper.

Where is the dog ? After all the first nipper (1884–1895) was a dog that served as the model for a painting titled His Late Master's Voice. I for me would have nipped a bit higher than her ankles.

Yes. But it's almost too easy, as I said earlier in reply to Dan.

But don't you find that now that you're #1, you want to maintain your position?

Rebecca, I feel I must confess to you that I'm getting a bit tired of mattresses...

Not so much I think. Sometimes it's hard for me to be sure of the difference because I have more British exposure than many.

Is "nipper" used Stateside?
Rebecca commented on 09.25.05
Oh, some call those "steamers."

A nipper is generally a child of any age, but it's usually applied to very young ones, perhaps because they might nip (bite) your ankles.

funny word : nipper, have to remember that when I have my own nipper, when are you qualified to be one?
