The citroen is rather common where I live, because we have a man called "Huub" who fixes them up, but no other cars; the peugeot is quite a surprise, it is a type I have never seen in Belgium, and the mat is just in the alley

Without 2 saloon doors SS, how would the gunslinger make his grand entrance into the bar?

FOD40UK commented on 08.07.05
They had a lot of success as rally cars in the late 50's/early 60's.The 2 door body was both lighter and stronger.(and they look nicer!)

Good morning to you, it is as in "fiddler on the roof" with the staircase in "if I were a rich man", one going up, one coming down. One door to get in, one to get out.

Smart Set commented on 08.07.05
Why did they make a 2-door saloon?

wim commented on 08.07.05
Lucky for me SS is a carefull driver, used to the cry "stop!! a mattress!!" with sharp reflexes

FOD40UK commented on 08.07.05
Actually we call them all Amazons tho' they were never officially called that in the UK.

Wim nearly died for this one. I tried to drive off, not realising he was only halfway out of the car.

Smart Set commented on 08.07.05
Is it only the 2-door saloon which is known as the Amazon?

FOD40UK commented on 08.06.05
Tho' (I must say) not necessarily for the better!!

FOD40UK commented on 08.06.05
Well spotted, SS, those in the know, (Rebecca?) know that my car is a '68 Amazon (the 2 door saloon version of the one pictured here) Buy one! It'll change your life!!

That "Peugeot" is indeed a surprise, especially to Volvo, who made it.
