If you have a narrow gap between your house and your neighbour's, why not stick an old mattress in it? No one will notice, and it will provide valuable additional insulation for both houses at no cost.

We'd guessed!

I like 'em blurry, dark and invisible....

Chaf commented on 08.10.05
"Use the force Luke..."

Smart Set commented on 08.10.05
I wouldn't presume to, Chaf. Each hunter/collector must find their own way and develop their own style. I would say that the golden rule is we need to see the mattress i.e. nothing too tiny, too blurry, too dark or otherwise invisible.

Chaf commented on 08.10.05
Perhaps SS in your semi retirement you could mentor us young up and coming matt hunters on things like what to look for in composition, angles, lighting or the best way to spot matts and such...

Smart Set commented on 08.10.05
Not scared at all. Thinking of going into semi-retirement, as I was saying earlier. But if you ever want to be the one to topple me, move to Willesden.

sterling commented on 08.10.05
running scared,Smart Set, dangerous position to be at number one, always someone there behind you waiting

wim commented on 08.10.05
I am off to Coelho

wim commented on 08.10.05
Anaheim is not too bad either

Smart Set commented on 08.10.05
sterling - just realised you were insisting on being lower case, like wim. Do you think you will take up streetmattressing? If so, Willesden is even better!

wim commented on 08.10.05
is it sterling, because it is not Wim?

sterling commented on 08.10.05
perhaps I'll advance to go - if Acton could handle four hunters

wim commented on 08.10.05
if I could afford it, I would not mind living in Acton, people are very friendly

Smart Set commented on 08.10.05
Sterling, there are only three mattress hunters in Acton and we only occasionally duplicate mattresses. I don't know what the other two drink. I wouldn't let a little thing like this put you off Acton.

wim commented on 08.10.05
Sterling, you sound like PB, the belgespeake came too quick

just look at what the cats and dogs are doing, beside raining

wim commented on 08.10.05
I wonder if you find this site by googling "acton", but I am too lazy to give it a try, I am going to read a bit Coelho

sterling commented on 08.10.05
morelegged? is that belgespeake?

wim commented on 08.10.05
Sterling, houses are getting pretty expensive, due to the international fame of Acton and his morelegged residents

its 'sterling'..I websearched Acton as I am thinking of buying a house there and this site came up to be honest it put me off...is it really full of mattress hunters photographing the same mattresses whilst supping darjeeling?

wim commented on 08.10.05
it is the Ceylon that makes you early grey.By the way, is there a Taiwanese Embassy in London? You know why.

Smart Set commented on 08.10.05
What do you think of my latest de Milo, Mr WR?

Smart Set commented on 08.10.05
I reckon it's good for a gigamatt. Earl Grey is nice. Jasmine, too. But I'm a Ceylon man.

wim commented on 08.10.05
early grey?

Smart Set commented on 08.10.05
How did you find this site, Sterling?

wim commented on 08.10.05
try only "de milo's".If only we could find out what makes a "de milo". I only hope he site will hold 10kilomatts

Smart Set commented on 08.09.05
I think I must have tried decaff but I can't remember what it was like. It's not the caffeine - I just prefer tea.

wim commented on 08.09.05
so just another man with the sixties as a good time in his life

Smart Set commented on 08.09.05
I think that when I reach 1 kilomatt I will scale back my hunting by ignoring all but the very best matts - submitting only those that have made a very good pic.

sterling commented on 08.09.05
more of a Rolling Stone who gathers no Matts, Wim, ever tried decaff, Smart Set

wim commented on 08.09.05
you must be very moss, sterling. SS I hope so too. Back on the continent it is back to 1 a week. I understand why people long to go back to Eve

Smart Set commented on 08.09.05
About four cups a day. Not excessive. I rarely drink coffee.

Smart Set commented on 08.09.05
I can sleep after anything! Been a busy day. I got some mattress pics I'm very pleased with yesterday and today, just around Acton. I hope the other two Actonions don't see them.

sterling commented on 08.09.05
yousure drink a lot of tea you must be very British

wim commented on 08.09.05
and you can sleep after a cup of tea. Don't forget we are 1 hour ahead of you. I was afraid being alone, mumbling in empty space, losing a game of spider solitaire. I knew I could count on you.(if you accept the word)

Smart Set commented on 08.09.05
Still here, wim. It's not that late, but I was just about to go and make a cup of tea.

wim commented on 08.09.05
very true indeed. I just stopped working. Anyone still up and of his mattress?

Smart Set commented on 08.09.05
Very true, wim. Huh?

wim commented on 08.06.05
