it is nothing to boast, just coincidence

my dad worked for an american company and had tp fly a lot all over the world. As he never had english classes in school (he dropped out at 16 or so) he kept up his languages with sf-pockets from airports. It was for me a cheap way of reading, but I read German before I could read Dutch, hence a bit of flavour for linguistic comparing, as my french is not bad at all, as my italian, my dutch. The only problems arise in spanish

Never mind. Why did you read only English in your youth?

wim commented on 06.10.05
I give it a try : "no"

Smart Set commented on 06.10.05
is there one using "matras"?

Is there a mattress-anagram in Dutch, using "armee du salut"?

wim commented on 06.10.05
I was waiting, but my stick's memory is lousy, not sony

Smart Set commented on 06.10.05
wim, you are a cyborg - you have memory sticks. Are they Sony?

wim commented on 06.10.05
I am not sure about the first word, the second is "and he cried withoud tears" if my memory sticks

What do the Greek words mean?

wim commented on 06.10.05
It was resting in my mind, in my youth I read only English, and the word is one that says it all, not many words like that, epepaideuka in Greek, has the the same effect, as is thelashassa

Smart Set commented on 06.10.05
Good word, "flabbergasted". Where did you get that from, wim?

Smart Set commented on 06.10.05
In this case, I noticed that the word "matelas" was in there, so, even though it would have been simple to do the rest myself, I used wordsmith.org/anagram/advanced.html to do it, specifying the word "matelas" in the result. I was amazed when only two results came back, and one was "matelas du rue". I use this site for most long anagrams - saves so much time.

wim commented on 06.10.05
you're right, but it should be "de la rue", I am flabbergasted never the less

wim commented on 06.10.05
does your mind find the anagrams, or do you have help from outside, SS?

Smart Set commented on 06.10.05
"armee du salut" is an anagram of "matelas du rue" which is (slightly ungrammatical) French for "streetmattress"!
