ART, here's the explanation: Leith, Edinburgh, is a port on the south shore of the Firth of Forth (it used to be a separate town, but Edinburgh engulfed it in 1920), and the Water of Leith is the river which flows through the city. "inver" in Scottish place names means "at the mouth of", so "Inverleith" means "at the mouth of the (River) Leith, and there is a district called Inverleith close by.
Leith features in a well-known British tongue-twister: "The Leith police dismisseth us".
