I think they were orginally a grocery store chain and then decided to sell electronics instead. The whole thing is a rather odd phenomenon.

That's right - Fry's is just a regional retailer at the moment. 24 locations in the Western US with 14 in California.

Apparently we don't have "Fry's" in Europe, at least not in the countries I traveled in. Perhaps something for dvd dan to start with. From steves reaction I gather it does not exist in Australia neither.

They must be the McDonalds of Mufflers.

Yes it appears our Midases are the same. They specialize in installation of those pipe tubes under the car that spit out the smog and brake work, recently adding minor maintenace stuff.

My Fry's has an ancient Greek motif on the inside, the outside is Classic American tiltup. The Fry's in Anaheim has a NASA Space theme.

When Rebecca says they sell everything electronic she means everything. They sell the electronic components, raw circuit boards, all computer components, tools, test equipment, plus CDs, DVDs, computer books, telescopes, cameras, appliances, and of course about every consumer electronic device available. This place is a money making machine. They have 40 checkout registers and use everyone of them on the weekend. The one in Anaheim had 80 registers when I was there a few years ago, but they weren't close to using them all as it was a new store.

Yes, Fry's sells everything electronic and often at a low price. The one closest to my house is a sort of ancient Egyptian/Sumerian computer playground, with giant sarcophagi displaying the latest releases and rows of laptops seated upon giant black cats. The building looks a bit like a ziggurat.

Is Frys Electronics a chain of shops? Is yor Midas the same as ours ? A chain selling technical things for cars ? (I am not he handy type, and "thing"is a good description fo the different tubes that are stuffed under and in my car)

Rebecca
So you've travelled that road. So what is the theme of your Fry's?

Rebecca commented on 09.26.03
Hee hee hee...until you have to return that memory for the third time in a row....

DVD Dan commented on 09.26.03
Well I guess some would see it as the road to hell as that is the way to Frys Electronics, which some people believe is hell. I however view Fry's as heaven.

Rebecca commented on 09.26.03
How do you know it wasn't?

DVD Dan commented on 09.26.03
Too bad it wasn't the turn lane to Hell, so then the arrow would point to towards the matts.
