in that case, I don't understand the system; it appears to me it would be simple if for instance one party would register a bunch of voters in the other camp, just to make sure the worst candidate would be the next opponent of the one you want to vote for from the other party

don't ask me to explain the US voting system. i'm not american and can't vote. but yes you can vote democrat even if you are a registered republican.

symbols of an election system, please explain because I raise my eyebrows : you have to be registrated as someone who votes democratic, republican or independant, then your own party decides more or less democratic who will be the candidate for president, next thing is voting. When you go to the final vote, can you change sides? for instance you were enlisted as a republican pre-voter and then you vote on a democratic candidate; Is that possible?
