Thanks, both of you. I like to think I'm pretty dedicated to mattress photography.

Sounds like an excellent comedy moment, Smartset. Balloons, toy guitars, shopping, camera, and a disgruntled five year old on the run... That's what I call dedication to the cause.

Full credit for still getting the shot.

Almost forgot - I was also trying to keep hold of a pink balloon. No string, just gripping the little tied-off bit.

I've got my bearing now.
Smart Set commented on 12.20.07
OK, to the right. In #15030 you can see the bollard that's in this shot.

As in "at right angles"
Smart Set commented on 12.20.07
Left or right of what?
Horse commented on 12.20.07
To the left or right ?

If you want to see how far away I was when I saw the matt, see #15030. That matt was in the same location as this one, albeit at right angles.

More background to this photo: I was walking my 5-year-old son home from school when I spotted what could be a matt from about 200 yards off. I must have looked a bit strange because I had two toy guitars slung about my neck (a Strat and an Explorer, guitar fans). My son had just been given them by the man in the newsagent's, and I was lumbered with them. I was holding his hand, and carrying shopping with the other, and he wasn't too pleased that we were taking a detour across the park. When we arrived at the matt I had to let go his hand, and he instantly ran off, so I had to be quick.

Horse, there was a bus there waiting at the lights when I arrived. Being a bendy bus (18 metres long) it stretched across the entire frame, so that was shot 1. In case it was blurred I lined up a second shot, and as I did so, the bus moved off, but was replaced by this one, just as the girl went to feed the matt. Later I decided that the human interest made the second shot the one to submit.

Jim, what kind of meters can they jump - gas, electricity, parking?
Jim commented on 12.20.07
probably spotted aforementioned Redback and wants to appease and survive--they can jump meters when fired up by cold weather---
Horse commented on 12.20.07
Is this female trying to feed the matt ?
Jim commented on 12.20.07
and with females?--well-----
Jim commented on 12.20.07
the Redback is a venomous Aussie spider which usually lurks underneath toilet seats and then bites u on the bum--umm rather painful--and can leave males impotent and limp for many years-not well liked in Oz

Excellent shot. Did you wait for a bus or was it good fortune ?
