I was making an early-evening trip to the supermarket when I saw this one. Went back home for my camera so as not to miss the light.

no 16692, I like this one, highly recommended, 695 spotted

a fine idea, the light stays in one place while you just wander around, get your camera, do some shopping, take a picture, write a comment. Over here the light is fading

I had no notions as to why. Thanks for the original.

snouts to big to be a deer (at least post photoshop), but i do see what you're looking at dvd.
Smart Set commented on 07.20.07
Dan, to satisfy your curiosity, I've sent the original to your "menus" address. It is a remarkably good deer, but I didn't see it. But what made you think I would put the image of a deer into my matt pic?
DVD Dan commented on 07.20.07
Okay maybe it is just me but when I saw the thumbnail picture I thought that you had inset an image of a deer for some reason, then upon seeing the full size I was astounded at the deer image. Now it appears I'm the only one to see it. The dark slanted oval on the left is an eye, going down and to the right you follow the snout to where you cloned another nostril. See it now?

If you want to see the bollard, #12790 was taken from almost exactly the same spot.
Smart Set commented on 07.19.07
Tried it and it looks a lot tidier I must admit. I slightly hurried it initially because I wanted to submit it ASAP.
btw, the shadow is a satellite dish and the "dumpster" is a fridge-freezer.
robert k commented on 07.19.07
i would have gone tight to the top of the garbage in the dumpster, cropped out the shadow on the left (but keeping the shadow of the sign) and gone a bit tighter to the base of the matt. the mottled red area would still be maximized relative to the composition.
Smart Set commented on 07.19.07
Dan, what's that about a deer?
SE, thanks. rk, I went for a square to maximise the area of red. How would you have cropped it? I much prefer it without the fugly finger.
robert k commented on 07.19.07
sorry SS. personally i liked the 'finger' and with a slightly different crop it would have been a better bet for a dvd

I think this matt is worthy of a MdM. Don't you? Not for the photoshop work but for the vibrancy of that wall, that sun, that chiaroscuro.
DVD Dan commented on 07.19.07
Okay I think I see some clone brush action. Question is how clear was the deer before you removed the bollard?
Sleepeasy commented on 07.19.07
Clever work. Bit a a whiz on photoshop, you are.
Smart Set commented on 07.19.07
Dead centre of the photo, on the rear strip of grass.
Sleepeasy commented on 07.19.07
Where was it?
Smart Set commented on 07.19.07
The bollard was the "finger". Robert said that it looked like some underground denizen was giving me the finger. I guess his comment vanished along with the original pic.
Sleepeasy commented on 07.19.07
By the way, fantastic psychedelic wall you have there.
Sleepeasy commented on 07.19.07
Not only did you delete the bollard and the finger (what can you mean?) but also the original comment! What was that?
Smart Set commented on 07.19.07
Thanks, rk.
No layers, Dan, but I removed an ugly concrete bollard which was dead centre and spoilt the whole aesthetic.
robert k commented on 07.19.07
now i have to add another comment to compliment this version. so i'll compliment you on this picture. nice shadows.
DVD Dan commented on 07.19.07
I missed the first one. Is that really real SS? No PS layers or anything?
Smart Set commented on 07.19.07
rk, following your comment, I removed the "finger" and resubmitted, asking nicely for the previous version to be deleted. I much prefer it minus "finger". Thanks for pointing out the blemish.
