what is teh connection between asian afracins and these heilige schutzengel? Surely not the missing 241!
FOD40UK commented on 11.01.05
I get the feeling the sofa and the 2cv belong to the same person.I can only begin to imagine what else the house might have to offer.
Rebecca commented on 10.31.05
It could happen.
noel commented on 10.31.05
so it's existentialistic, confronting and of apauling taste, nobody ever died of that, I think
Smart Set commented on 10.31.05
Yesyes, but what do you *really* think of it, Rebecca?
Rebecca commented on 10.30.05
Noel, this sofa flies in the face of all that's right and true and decent in the world. It is capable of single-handedly bringing an end to civilization as we know it. Not that that would be such a bad thing.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.30.05
Effing vile. That's what.
noel commented on 10.30.05
what's wrong with my sofa?
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.28.05
Dan - It's the sofa....too painful to look at...
DVD Dan commented on 10.28.05
Purple today, forgotten tomorrow.

DVD Dan commented on 10.25.05
For those that missed it, here is the correct link: http://www.babbtechnology.com/time/clothes.htm (196 to go)
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.25.05
Rebecca...unfortunately for us, legwarmers have been having their time again here over the last year or two. Terrible garment.
Rebecca commented on 10.25.05
There's almost 200 comments to go then.
FOD40UK commented on 10.25.05
Keep this up and we could have a new 'most commented'(I'm kinda tired of 'masonic' anyway)
Rebecca commented on 10.25.05
Huh?
DVD Dan commented on 10.25.05
That's strange, the bottom was the cool part.
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Speaking of the 80's, leg warmers are coming back...I actually just saw a woman today wearing these purple leopardskin-print things on the lower half of her legs. They weren't scrunchy leg warmers, they were more like loose flappy leg sheaths that hung down. I have no idea how they stayed up.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
You needed the full picture to appreciate the horror of it all...maybe it was too much for Dan to take...
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
ND, I tried the link that led to the pic that broke the site that Noonan built. Dan's link gives us only her top half. I wonder why.
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
They're spare groin guards for my boyfriend, for the next time we get in a fight.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Oh, thanks for noticing, they're specially bred terrapin shells.
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Especially under thin material, so you could see their outline. Aack! What are those things on your shoulders?
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
The shoulder pads were terrible...
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Thank you for your confession. I am glad to be able to say I never adopted the look myself. I don't think we did those cordoroy pants here though. My recollections are all mostly hazy because I didn't get personally involved. I just remember cutting an awful lot of shoulder pads out of clothes before I would wear them.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Rebecca, I am pretty sure I had a couple of outfits that were like that. I am 31 now so quite young in the 80's but the latter part especially saw me get into the 80's look full on. Tammy Girl (girl's clothes shop) had the full selection. Jumbo high-waisted cords, skinny leather ties, abstract sweaters, batwing tops....I cringe when I see the photos....
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Not with our climate though - when they are introduced for purely yuppie reasons (as they were here for the most part), it's all a bit sad.
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Well that seems to have shut everybody up. Sorry! I think ceiling fans are completely normal!
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Yes I checked out the outfit. Simply dreadful. I have no problem with ceiling fans though.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
You don't get full body look though - just her bad sweater. I am truly sorry everyone! I didn't know this could happen!!
DVD Dan commented on 10.24.05
ND you couldn't have used http://www.babbtechnology.com/time/clothes1.jpg ?
Evil Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Well, as I have caused so much trouble, I hope you both looked at the picture I referenced!! Somebody on Radio 2 just mentioned ceiling fans.....another 80's fave in the UK...
DVD Dan commented on 10.24.05
Not being a trendy fickle type, I still own and like Nagels. Not up anymore as there isn't a good spot for them. Someday they will be reunited with the Sheetrock of my Den. When I get one.
I was always perplexed by his technique. I'd look at one, see the few simple lines and think hell I could do that. Somehow all my attempts looked more like a Groening than a Nagel
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
Never this baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Yes Nancy, you evil dumpling.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Whoops. I just wrote to Adam to apologise. Has this happened before??
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Oh my god, did I do this!!???
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
I think I bought that one but that was the last DD record I did buy. (They did have a single out in the late '90s that was good, though.)
Rio I think you'll find. (I am going to see Duran Duran in concert in December....I didn't pay for the ticket though - I am going with friend who feels she can't subject her boyfriend again...)
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
I think before you can sit on that couch you have to armor yourself with linebacker shoulder pads and an entire can of hairspray.
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Yes, Nagel did one. The only reason I know that is because someone just told me though.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Heiligeschutzengel pictures suck! How terrible but some people like that stuff I'm sure....Fibby fibrepants....I'll remember that for future use!
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
I thought the same thing too. Nancy, you're reminding me of my sister's taste...only more current. She prefers pink and leopard print though.
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
The Nagel stuff looks like a Duran Duran record sleeve.
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
I misread that as "fibby fibrepants". That's a new one on me, I thought.
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
Those pictures suck big time. But check out "Heiligeschutzengel". Now, that's class!
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Fibby firepants.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Yes. First left and second from left on third row. I am sure I had these up in my bedroom in the 80's. Along with a red tubular metal bed, red carpet, red metal shelves etc etc. Terrible.
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
Only about 10...nah, never heard of him. And I don't have a den either. It was all lies.
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Okay are you talking about the second from the left, third row down? That's exactly the sort of stuff I had in mind too. I think my sister had one of those posters up in her house until recently.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Oh yes!! I remember those!
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
On the page are Syd Brak posters - so maybe we are talking about different pictures. I shall google Nagal.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Worrying...bt at least you can't possibly have a sofa as bad as this one. Rebecca - I'm not sure of the artist but this page has a couple on http://images.google.co.uk/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&q=Athena+posters&btnG=Search
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Nagel, that's his name. Patrick Nagel. Do you have any prints of his up, Smart Set?
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
It's spooky, Nancy. You're describing my "den" to a T!
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Yes! What were those awful posters of the fake-looking women by that one artist...I think they also appeared in Playboy or something...darn, I can't remember his name. Guys?
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
and I reckon the 2CV is in trouble....
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
....and Athena prints of fast cars or heavily made up women. Nice.
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
It already ate 241...
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Yep! I am imagining it sat in a lounge somewhere...with a "contrasting" faux oriental rug and some sort of metal display shelving systm in grey...yuk
DVD Dan commented on 10.24.05
Can't sleep sofa will eat me!
Can't sleep sofa will eat me!
Can't sleep sofa will eat me!
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
That's the time portal the sofa passed through from the 80's.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Hmmm. There is a bit of a strange patch there....
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
I meant the sofa, but I was just kidding. I want to know what happened to 241, and why the hazy area top left?
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Well said, Rebecca! Not only is this site a hobby, it's a public information service for men lacking in taste who need help getting girlfriends.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
What?? The car, the picture or the accident that appears to be a sofa?!
Smart Set commented on 10.24.05
Is it too late to say I quite like it?
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Bachelors of the world, let this be a lesson to you...whatever you do, don't harbor this kind of criminally horrible furniture, or you will never be able to get girls to come over.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
God, don't remind me of that book! I found it most disturbing! But perfect place for this scary piece of furniture!
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Don't make me look! There has to be a place to put this sort of thing, like an Island of Doctor Moreau for furniture.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
Shiver! It is not a pleasant thought....if you stare at the sofa for long enough you can see Edvard Munch's The Scream in it...
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
I'm just picturing the horrific nightmares you'd suffer at night, with the thing turning into a sort of evil animated clown sofa and laughing horribly as it chased you through a hall of mirrors!
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
It is truly a horror of a sofa. Can you imagine the headaches it would give you if you were sat there all evening watching telly?!
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
I may need to seek counseling after this. Aesthetic PTSD.
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
It's bringing back painful furniture memories from the 80's.
Nancy Dumpling commented on 10.24.05
What is that behind the matt??Surely nobody could ever have lived with that if it's a sofa?!!
Rebecca commented on 10.24.05
Sorry but the colors in this picture are more like "purple pain."
