Damn another one. The Yen sign is easy just type a "Y" hit backspace then hit "="
DVD Dan commented on 10.23.05
Oops sorry Rebecca I missed a smart ass answer. The pound sign is most likely above your 3 key ☺
DVD Dan commented on 10.23.05
El answero es en el mailo.

Hey Dan, how do you make the yen and pound symbols on your keyboard? FOD - for that amount you can buy a single-wide mobile home (about 420 square feet) in Santa Cruz. I am extremely fortunate that I only pay 29,272.75 rupees a month for my one-bedroom apartment downtown. Ssssh, don't tell anyone!
DVD Dan commented on 10.22.05
Now my townhouse is worth ¥55,000,000.00
DVD Dan commented on 10.22.05
That's a bit more than I paid for my townhouse 12 years ago.
FOD40UK commented on 10.22.05
The cheapest 2 bed house in my 'hood' goes for about £85,000.
DVD Dan commented on 10.22.05
A very nice inland 2 bedroom 1000 sq ft apartment in my area rents for £1131. There are zero single family homes under £339,291 in my city.

On www.streetmap.co.uk I looked to see how many Coningsby Roads there are in London, and I looked first at the one I know in Ealing, then at the nearest other one, in N4. There I noticed that it ran into a road named Lothair Rd. That's odd, I thought, I've seen a Lothair Road in Ealing. Looked to remind myself where it was and lo and behold Ealing's Coningsby Road also runs into Lothair Road! What are the chances of that happening?
Rebecca commented on 10.22.05
Yes, all housing is REALLY expensive here. We have over 3,000 homeless people here, may of whom are families or regular people who work in shops downtown.
FOD40UK commented on 10.22.05
Crikey!So is rental really expensive?
Rebecca commented on 10.22.05
Now it all makes sense. Thanks. Here in Santa Cruz you can't get a halfway decent house for under about 282,740 pounds (according to my online currency converter). And then it's only a halfway decent house, nothing fancy. 399,950 sounds pretty steep.
FOD40UK commented on 10.22.05
I googled coningsby rd to see where SS used to live, and one of the first hits was a house for sale.I delved further and found it was an almost exact replica of our present home.I was then shocked to see that London house prices are approx 4x higher than here up north. As my daughter is struggling to save a big enough deposit for her first house, I sypathised with the next generation of London first-time buyers.
Rebecca commented on 10.22.05
Oh, it's okay, but can you explain where "No#40's for sale £399'950!" came from? Just curious.
FOD40UK commented on 10.22.05
Oh sorry!
Rebecca commented on 10.22.05
I think neither one of us was sure what the cost of housing in London had to do with this picture or the discussion below.

NS Man!
DVD Dan commented on 10.22.05
Is Mr FOD being nonsequitur man or am I missing something?
FOD40UK commented on 10.22.05
No#40's for sale £399'950!!Strangely its an almost exact clone of my house (valued @ £100,000 yesterday) How do first-time buyers ever get a foothold on the property ladder in London?I know wages are better down south, but 4 times better?I feel sorry for the next generation.
Smart Set commented on 10.22.05
It's a small world - I used to live in a road called "Coningsby".
