Agreed. Innuendo seemed more ambiguous because of the single vowel after the "d" (as opposed to the double vowel situation with video and radio). Know what I mean? Did you have to check google before confirming or are you so clever you knew?!! The latter, obviously!

Never mind what grammar says - she's so old she was taught by Victorians.

Smart Set commented on 07.20.05
There's no hard and fast rule for words ending in 'o'. Take "video" - no 'e' in the plural. Or "radio". Annoying, eh?

Nancy Dumpling commented on 07.20.05
I know grammar says that it should have an "e"...but it looked odd....

Smart Set commented on 07.20.05
No problem, ma'am. Actually my OED says "innuendoes or innuendos", so take your pick. Has the plural an extra 'e'? Either it innuendoes or it innuendoesn't. Boom boom!

Oh yes!! I learn something new every day!! Thanks SS Spellmasta!

"Innuendoes", ND. To check a word, just Google it then click on "definition".

Do you know the song I mean, Wim? It was banned because so rude and full of rather obvious sexual innuendoes/innuendos (SS Spellmasta - which is it??!)

now that is sickening, a blue long john, bwèèk

You two!!! Enough of the toilet talk!! For some reason Dinah Washington's song "Long John Blues" springs to mind...must be all the innuendo...

depending whose gate it is. I am back in near daylight and of for a nap.

The toilet spectacles must be accustomed to the sight of one eye, as it were...

wim commented on 07.20.05
I wonder if it started with a monocle

Smart Set commented on 07.20.05
Toilet spectacles = glasses for arses. (Or, in US English: glasses for asses.

we call it "wc-bril", "Toilet-spectacles"
